Two Months On – A Little Life and Business Update
It’s been two months since my last blog and it’s safe to say life has been pretty busy!
March was a huge month for me, starting with hosting my annual International Women's Day (IWD) event at the beautiful Wellington Hotel in Brecon. This year’s event was truly special, with a panel of four strong, inspiring women: Eva Melissa Roshan, Lou Englefield, Freya Lodge, and Isla Elliott. Each one brought their own powerful message, sharing personal stories, experiences, and insights that left a lasting impact. Two of our speakers even received a standing ovation, a moment that left me truly speechless and proud.
We are completely in awe of each of our speakers, who delivered such inspiring, powerful, and unique talks. Their stories, insights, and passion truly made this event unforgettable. The standing ovations were powerful and moving, and at times, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The talks resonated so deeply that they will leave a lasting impression on each of us for a lifetime.
A huge thank you also goes to Kalli McAllister, Gemma Sandison, and Signe Lydersen. The best teamwork I could have asked for and forever known as the Fab Four! This event simply wouldn’t have been the same without you. Your energy, support, and behind-the-scenes magic made it all possible.
The audience numbers, the feedback, and the overwhelming support from the local community absolutely blew me away. Every year after the event, I have that familiar thought: "How on earth will I pull it off again next year?" Yet somehow, it always comes together, and I’m already excited for what’s to come.
The rest of March flew by with client work, and I’m so grateful to be operating at full capacity. Every project is a reminder of why I love what I do. Although I must admit, sometimes an ad hoc project crosses my desk, and I just can’t resist jumping in!
Somewhere in the middle of all that, I also found time to have new branding photos done for my website with Camera & Co, and what an absolute joy the experience was from start to finish. Velvet instantly made me feel comfortable in front of the camera and truly captured the essence of both myself and my brand. The photos are not only beautiful but also authentic, and they’ve added such a professional and personal touch to my website. I can’t recommend Camera & Co highly enough! Their creativity, attention to detail, and Velvet’s friendly, intuitive approach made the whole experience seamless and genuinely enjoyable.
On the 2nd of April, Helen and I attended Bizfest in Exeter with our NeuroHub VA Network hats on, and it was fantastic! It’s always so valuable to get together in person, to properly catch up, share ideas, and of course, to keep promoting our ever-expanding NeuroHub membership. It was inspiring to connect with so many like-minded people who are equally passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals and creating inclusive opportunities.
Another major focus recently has been creating my brand-new programme, the Mentoring Programme for Students with ADHD. This has been a real passion project. The programme is designed to offer tailored mentoring support to students navigating academic life with ADHD, helping them with organisation, planning, confidence, and managing executive function challenges. It’s a proactive, supportive approach to help young people build the tools they need for success.
I launched the programme two weeks ago and have been absolutely inundated with enquiries ever since. I’m thrilled to be starting with my first student next week! The beauty of the programme is that it’s fully adaptable and can also be tailored for any adult who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and may be struggling to adjust or find strategies that work for them.
Amidst all this, the Easter break brought some much-needed downtime and a real adventure! We took a road trip across Scotland, clocking over 2,000 miles in six days. Highlights included visiting my son at Loch Fyne (where he spoiled us with incredible food, being a talented chef!), attending a stunning wedding on the Isle of Skye, hiking towering Scottish mountains (seriously, never underestimate the landscape there!), rescuing a newborn lamb, and enjoying some peaceful walks along Hadrian’s Wall on our journey home.
Although I managed to squeeze in some work from the car while my husband drove, it was a refreshing reminder of the importance of taking time to recharge, especially when running a business and supporting others.
As we head into May, I’m feeling energised, inspired, and ready for all the exciting projects ahead!
Thanks for reading and for continuing to be part of this journey with me.
